For healthy pets with little to no medical issues, a yearly check-up is recommended. A basic health check, which includes auscultation of the heart, checking of body condition score, assessment of eyes/ears/nose/skin and coat and palpation of abdomen.
Your concerns as a pet guardian can be answered during the check. Regular vaccinations for cats and dogs can be administered at home. Below are the list of vaccines that we offer:
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) assessment refers to medical assessment using the TCM framework, and is intended to assist Western/conventional treatment via the use of herbal medication, food therapy, and acupuncture.
Acupuncture would typically be used to treat cases of chronic pain, such as osteoarthritis and intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), idiopathic seizures, to assist gut motility and to maintain quality of life for palliative/geriatric patients.
Pets with long-term and/or terminal conditions require a different kind of treatment from acute conditions. Palliative care focuses more on quality-of-life and pain management, teaching owners basic home medical care, and managing expectations towards the end-of-life. When the time comes, we are able to provide euthanasia at home.
Blood testing is available for general health surveillance, or if you are concerned about organ function or various common diseases.
Less common blood tests can be sent out to external labs such as IDEXX, and Asia Vet Diagnostics. Results typically return within the week.
Organic samples can be sent out to test for a number of conditions:
With ultrasound imaging certain conditions can be detected more efficiently and effectively. For instance, fluid in abdomen, pyometra, or looking at dermal masses. We use the Butterfly IQ portable ultrasound, which is suitable for cursory imaging.
If detailed specific ultrasonography is required, we would recommend making an appointment with your regular vet clinic, or at a specialist hospital.
Pets with known heart conditions or kidney problem often require regular blood pressure measurement.
Measuring it at the clinic may artificially elevate the readings due to increased stress and unfamiliar settings. Measurement in a home setting would give more consistent readings.
Our nursing service is for basic medical services which do not require the attention of a vet. It can be considered for conditions which require multiple or regular treatment, such as administration of subcutaneous fluids, injections, wound management or giving oral medications.
Medical grooming can also be provided for pets whose quality-of-life is affected by medical conditions, such as open wounds, matted fur, overgrown toenails.
Many health conditions that can be seen at the clinic can be treated at home. However we would recommend possible emergencies or conditions that may require hospitalisation or surgery to be seen at a brick-and-mortar clinic.
This would include but is not limited to sudden lethargy, signs of severe and intense pain, physical trauma which may have caused bone fractures or organ damage, respiratory problems, sudden distension of abdomen, acute blood loss, repeated vomiting/diarrhoea and seizures.
Price starts at $180, location charges may apply, not including medications or tests if needed.
House call visits from the veterinarian are most suited for certain types of patients and clients
Clinic visits can be stressful for pets due to unfamiliarity. This can result in elevated heart rate and mis-diagnosis in serious cases. Pets might be uncooperative during handling and treatment. Treating the pet at home might help them stay calm.
Older pets are generally less mobile and it can be stressful to travel far with them. A simple house visit from the vet at home can assess the severity of the problem, and issue medication or tests if needed.
If you find it hard to transport your Great Dane or five cats to a clinic, consider a house call instead of taking multiple trips. This way, it could be less stressful and more cost-effective when ensuring the health of your beloved pets.
For a holistic assessment of the pets’ wellbeing, understanding the home environment is important to take into account all aspects of their health. We can also suggest ways to improve their space at home based on their needs.
